In 1981 Rondeau finally engaged 5 cars; 3 “new” M379C in category 6 and 2 in GTP category to put into play his title of 1980. Otis, the world’s leading lift manufacturer, joined the Sarthe team for this new adventure. The brand wanted to develop the image of a 24-hour service… It sponsors the #24 car driven by Jean Rondeau and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud as well as the #7 Rondeau 379 CL in GTP. It is the last in Group 6 to give up after 58 laps. The car became more and more dangerous to drive and the retirement is formalized at 23:40.
